WELLNESS PROGRAMS

Over the years many patients have requested me to train them after their discharge. For one, they did not trust putting their health in an uneducated personal trainer, which is usually what one gets at a commercial gym. And secondly, they love the sense of empowerment training can offer to stay healthy. After 16 years I finally launched my online coaching in 2022 to stay in contact with people following discharge from a course of therapy. In 2022 a patient of mine had his shoulder replaced and successfully completed rehab. He wanted to train independently, but also safely and aggressively to lose weight. One year after his surgery his MD was stunned at the amount of progress he had achieved, because he diligently followed my Wellness Program. You can read about Mark’s success in the testimonials. What I offer are customized and affordable one time, monthly or as needed programs to help you achieve your goals. These are much more in-depth programs than when a traditional PT prescribes a home exercise program on discharge day. First we discuss your concerns, goals and review lifting mechanics via media. Afterwards a weekly program is devised based on your available resources (ie home gym, commercial gym). Every program is methodically designed explaining the objectives and exercises. We stay connected by your choice (ie text, email, DM) to discuss progress or hiccups along the way. You’re a reflection of my work, so I care. You also do not have to be a prior patient in a PT program to be a Wellness client.

POWERLIFTING PROGRAMMING & PROTOCOLS

Deep down inside I am a meathead at heart. I resonate more toward tenacity, grit and perseverance. In fact, one of my good training partners once said “Turn off your brain” while I was a newbie to powerlifting, meaning not to overthink a lift. Just lift the weight. Use the lessons from my own injuries, failures and victories to help you succeed on your journey. There virtually isn’t a powerlifter on the planet who does not have some kind of ache and pain, so let me design a program tailored around your injury. Whether you want to hit a personal record in the gym or on the platform I can coach you. Perhaps you do not require consistent programming, but just a protocol to work past bicep tendinitis to hit a bigger bench, for instance. I offer simple, one-time protocols for a fair price. If you are new to raw lifting or anxious to learn equipped lifting, I can guide you. Maybe you just want some tips to get past a plateau on the deadlift or learn how to build a big squat. I would gladly assist. Do you need a change from the conjugate method? I follow progressive overload and overloading theories, with a big emphasis of my bodybuilding background at the base. Every program is meticulously designed with objectives given for the week, workout and exercise. Each person who signs up for powerlifting coaching will receive a complimentary T – shirt.

PHYSICAL THERAPY PROGRAMMING & PROTOCOLS

Often, I hear about people who have no trust in a physical therapist because of his or her’s lack of understanding in strength training, so therefore they abandon their therapy. This leads to potential injury or unmaximized potential, which is a pet peeve of my profession. Even worse is when I hear an MD to tell a person to quit lifting altogether. Unlike other traditional PT’s, I set you up for success through programming if you are the independent type or have no skilled therapists in your area. My PT protocols are not cookie cutter. They follow evidence-based practice and years of clinical judgment. If you have a powerlifting or crossfit coach, for example, my job is open the door of communication to establish trust and a game plan. We will work as a team. This is precisely what I did for one of my online clients, Sarah, who suffered an ACL tear while lifting. She completed four months of my PT programming and transitioned back to powerlifting with the guidance of her coach. One year post injury she is set to make her return to the platform. You can read about her testimonial. I offer affordable, one time, monthly or as needed protocols to help you achieve your goals. A prerequisite of some exercise IQ is encouraged to ensure proper execution of exercises. Common musculoskeletal disorders I treat include, but not limited to are: rotator cuff tears & repairs, quadricep & bicep tendon reattachments, ACL tears & reconstructions, scoliosis and total joint repairs. I recommend at one point during the rehab to visit me for an assessment and manual therapy. We stay in close contact to review proper technique, surgical precautions if needed, edema, and pain to name a few.

MANUAL THERAPY

Schedule an appointment to receive a quick, thorough movement screen and get right to business. I am confident my 17 years of manual therapy experience in the clinic can compete with seasoned massage therapists. My soft tissue techniques range from light effleurage to deep tissue massage, which is why most seek my services. Instrument assisted tools are used when necessary, often with my powerlifting and heavy weight training population, to break down myofascial adhesions that build up over time. I implement mobilizations & stretching to each joint when necessary to gain range of motion. Usually, people that seek my services do not even know what motion their joints are lacking, which leads to injury, overuse or tendinitis syndromes. I encourage regular maintenance, sufficient sleep and a healthy diet.

CONSULTATIONS

Consultations to discuss rehabilitation, injuries and training. Let me save you a few (hundred) bucks by skipping a doctor, taking unnecessary medical imaging and prescribing ineffective medications to only be told “stop working out.” Afterwards I can prescribe an appropriate protocol or begin programming for a fee that is affordable for you and works with your lifestyle.

“3 surgeries in 2 years and I’ve had little faith in the PT’s my doctor has thrown at me. Growing frustrated I reached out to Tom Krawiec to bitch about his profession more than anything. So he did what Tom does and talked me down off the ledge, told me to get my fat ass down to see him. 3 weeks later/5 weeks out from shoulder surgery with a bicep tendinitis (cut/reattachment) he’s got me 2 weeks out from getting under a straight bar. I should have known Tom’s therapy would be on another level. His preparation, thoroughness and knowledge is like how he approaches his lifting. Considering he climb his way to a top 5 all time total after rupturing both ACL’s with doctors telling him his days were done, I couldn’t think of a better person to have in my corner.. my little brother from another mother.”

“I feel like the Christmas Story when Ralphy is dreaming of the teacher writing A+++++ on the board)  Tom was fantastic.  I wasn't just a patient.  He genuinely cared about my progress.  He answered all questions and concerns along the way (still does actually). As a remote patient, we did at least weekly phone calls.  Tom had great communication throughout the week checking in.  He celebrated my victories along the way, just as much or more than I did.  His fee was very reasonable.  He gave me the real truth about recovery.  Working with Tom was the key component to my outstanding progress.  Not only was he my PT, but became a lifelong friend.”

“My last surgeries were both shoulders and worked with Tom Krawiec who is uniquely qualified as a therapist. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable as a therapist but is also a competitive weight lifter bringing both experiences and skill sets to help me get through these surgeries. Tom was able to assess my strengths and weaknesses and put together a care plan that followed my doctor’s protocol but also could help me push myself safely to maximize my ability to return to almost completely normal functionality. The way Tom sequenced exercises so I could warm up with simpler exercises before the challenging ones allowed me to progress and not get discouraged because healing and recovery is a process you have to be patient with. At my one year post op for my second (more complicated) shoulder replacement my surgeon, Dr, Nikhil Verma, was so impressed with progress that he had the Fellow take a video demonstrating my impressive range of motion to use in subsequent medical conferences and lectures. That would not have been possible without the assistance and therapy provided by Tom.”
